Callistemon Wee Johnnie |
Callistemon Wee Johnnie is a selected dwarf form of Callistemon viminalis hybrid and is bred by Ian Shimmen of Bushland Flora. It is a hardy low maintenance shrub with attractive grey foliage and mass bottlebrush red flowers which appear from middle to late spring; it is compact and smaller in habit than other varieties. This small shrub grows from a height of 0.5 -1m and has a spread of 0.5-1m making it excellent to use as a garden border, rockery plant, and specimen plant, or as low level planting which is ideal for any landscape. This small shrub has the adaptability to cope with dry conditions and medium frosts. Callistemon Wee Johnnie is new to the plant market, and this plant’s advantage over other varieties is its dense compact habit and contrasting grey foliage, with bird attracting flowers to add biodiversity and create habitat for fauna. The following list of other forms of Callistemon similar in the market include: Callistemon Little John, Callistemon Macarthur™, Callistemon Better John™, and Callistemon Green John™. The various forms of Callistemon listed can be mixed planted to create colour and subtle textural variations in commercial landscapes and home gardens. |
