Hymenosporum Lushious |
Hymenosporum Lushious is a dwarf selected form of Hymenosporum flavum and is bred by Peter Goldup. It is a compact low level ground hugging shrub, with attractive lush green foliage, and mass cream to yellow flowers that appear when planted in full sunlight from middle to late spring. This plant requires good drainage and tolerates wet and dry conditions. Lushious grows from a height of 0.4-0.6m and has a spread of 1-1.5m, making it an excellent plant to use as a garden border, rockery plant, and specimen plant, or as low level planting which is ideal for any landscape. This small shrub has the adaptability to grow in shaded areas and copes with light frosts. Hymenosporum Lushious advantages over other varieties are its dense compact habit, lush darker green foliage and flowers in full sunlight. This small shrub adds fragrance, colour and biodiversity by attracting butterflies and birds during spring when in flower. The following list of other plant varieties where Hymenosporum Lushious can be substituted include: Frangipani plumeria, Hymenosporum Gold Nugget, Gardienia augusta, Gardenia jasminoides, Plumeria obtuse dwarf “Singapore White” and “Singapore Pink”. These varieties can be mixed planted to create colour and texture in garden beds. |
